कवि टेड ह्यूजेस कहते हैं कि जब तक गोल्डफिंच चिड़िया नहीं आती, पेड़ पर सन्नाटा रहता है। चिड़िया के आते ही अचानक हलचल मच जाती है। वह छिपकली की तरह फुर्ती से आती है और पेड़ की झाड़ियों में प्रवेश करते ही घोंसले में बैठे बच्चे चहचहाने लगते हैं और पूरा लैबर्नम पेड़ हिलने लगता है।
