It shows cause and effect — one thing happens because of another.
(किसी कारण से परिणाम दिखाने के लिए प्रयोग होता है।)
🔹 Structure:
Subject + verb + so + adjective/adverb + that + clause.
or
so + adjective/adverb + that + result
🔹 Examples:
- He is so tired that he cannot walk.
→ वह इतना थका हुआ है कि चल नहीं सकता। - The box is so heavy that I cannot lift it.
→ डिब्बा इतना भारी है कि मैं इसे उठा नहीं सकता। - She spoke so fast that no one understood her.
→ उसने इतनी तेज़ी से बोला कि कोई उसे समझ नहीं सका।
✅ Rule:
“so…that” का प्रयोग तब करते हैं जब हम किसी कार्य के कारण और परिणाम दोनों को बताना चाहते हैं।
Too….to
🔹 Meaning:
It shows excess — something is more than enough, making it impossible to do something.
(किसी चीज़ की अधिकता के कारण कुछ संभव नहीं होता है।)
🔹 Structure:
too + adjective/adverb + to + verb (base form of verb)
🔹 Examples:
- He is too tired to walk.
→ वह चलने के लिए बहुत थका हुआ है। - The box is too heavy to lift.
→ डिब्बा उठाने के लिए बहुत भारी है। - She spoke too fast to understand.
→ उसने समझने के लिए बहुत तेज़ बोला।
✅ Rule:
“too…to” का अर्थ होता है — “इतना…कि नहीं कर सकता” या “बहुत ज़्यादा”
इसमें नकारात्मक अर्थ (impossibility) होता है।
Conversion:
🟢 (A) so…that → too…to
- He is so weak that he cannot walk.
➡️ He is too weak to walk.
👉 वह चलने के लिए बहुत कमजोर है। - The tea is so hot that I cannot drink it.
➡️ The tea is too hot to drink.
👉 चाय पीने के लिए बहुत गरम है। - She was so tired that she could not study.
➡️ She was too tired to study.
👉 वह पढ़ने के लिए बहुत थकी हुई थी। - It is so dark that we cannot see anything.
➡️ It is too dark to see anything.
👉 इतना अंधेरा है कि कुछ दिखाई नहीं देता। - He spoke so fast that I couldn’t understand him.
➡️ He spoke too fast to understand.
👉 उसने समझने के लिए बहुत तेज़ बोला।
🔵 (B) too…to → so…that
- He is too young to drive a car.
➡️ He is so young that he cannot drive a car.
👉 वह इतना छोटा है कि गाड़ी नहीं चला सकता। - The box is too heavy to lift.
➡️ The box is so heavy that I cannot lift it.
👉 डिब्बा इतना भारी है कि मैं इसे उठा नहीं सकता। - She is too lazy to do her homework.
➡️ She is so lazy that she does not do her homework.
👉 वह इतनी आलसी है कि होमवर्क नहीं करती। - The question is too difficult to answer.
➡️ The question is so difficult that I cannot answer it.
👉 प्रश्न इतना कठिन है कि मैं इसका उत्तर नहीं दे सकता। - He was too sick to go to school.
➡️ He was so sick that he could not go to school.
👉 वह इतना बीमार था कि स्कूल नहीं जा सका।
